Designing a Research Project

Review these questions and address the problems they highlight.

  • Do you remember being taught HOW to research? (Many of your students will say they haven't been taught.)

  • Did you realize that there are many research models available to help your students master the research process? (Mention that you expect your students to follow a "research process" and you may see a deer-in-the-headlight expression on their faces.)

  • Do you know WHY students plagiarize and how to design projects that discourage it? (Ban those canned research projects!)
